Overview

• Today, the President and Artistic Director of Carifesta XII, Haiti, Elsa Baussan Noel and Philippe Dodard, spoke during the workshop and reflection day dedicated to the cultural Development at a local level, organized, at the Kinam Hotel in Pétion-ville, around the organization of the Caribbean Arts Festival in Haiti, in the presence of local cultural operators and cultural attaches of foreign embassies accredited in the country. It was another opportunity to provide information to cultural operators, to let them know at what stage we are in the organization of Carifesta, two weeks from the opening.
  
  The Carifesta Committee continues to issue authorization (accreditation) to local and foreign journalists; the media have until Friday, August 14 to register. 3 journalists by media can be accredited. Many personalities, Ministers, Heads of Government, Mayors of the countries in the region have announced their arrival to attend Carifesta. The last person to have confirmed her presence is the Vice Mayor of Miramar, Florida, Ms. Darline B. Riggs, who said in her letter of intent that Carifesta is not only the celebration of our roots, our culture, common future but also a wonderful opportunity for the thousands of visitors who will participate to discover the rich culture of Haiti, its traditions, its music, its food, its people and concludes by calling everyone to support this great event.
  
  Will also arrive from Florida to attend Carifesta, the Commissionner: Dale Holness of Broward County; Chairman of the Miami Dade Board of County Commissioners: Jean Monestime; Keon Hardemon commissioner, City of Miami, District 5; Mayor of North Miami: Doctor Joseph Smith; the Director of Culture of Little Haiti: Sandy Joseph; a delegation from the Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida; a delegation of the Haitian American chamber of commerce of Fort Lauderdale / Palm Beach.
