Overview
- PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (sentinel.ht) - Protesters at Friday's sit-in at the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes (CSC/CA) demanded drug money not be used in upcoming elections. It was part of their hostile chants against a "plot" to give discharges, outside of the law, to former officials that had amassed a record $2.9 billion [US] debt in recent years.
Amid hostile chants for former leaders of the state, Preval-Bellerive and Martelly-Lamothe, André Fadot of the National Popular Opposition Movement (MONOP) said, "we're here to demand that the Superior Court of Auditors not give documents to officials involved in the waste of public funds."
Protesters at the sit-in organized Friday, April 17, 2015, outside the offices of the CSC/CA pointed the finger at President Michel Martelly who they claim aims to issue discharges by decree to state officials who would have otherwise had their financial management reviewed by a bicameral commission of the Legislature following an audit of the CSC/CA.
Light should be made on the management of public funds by officials of the State, who aim to go to elections, requires MONOP, cited in an AlterPresse article.
Approximately 40 former ministerial records, for the purpose of discharging, were received at the CSC/CA.
