    The Conze Scholarship, was established in 1999 as a motivator and reward for students of Haitian descent to successfully complete their high school education and continue to post-secondary education. As HAFTB foundation is in community service and education, the Scholarship requires its applicant to perform community service, be stewards of their community and be positive, productive students at school.

    Requirements

    Application must be received by April 15th, 2015 by 11:59 p.m.
    Winner announced May 5, 2015

    - Applicant must be of Haitian descent.
    - Applicant must be graduating from high school in the spring of 2015.
    - Applicants must show proof that they have been accepted at an accredited college or university for fall 2015.
    - Applicant must have earned a minimum 3.2 GPA.
    - Applicant must have completed 100 volunteer hours-preferably in the Haitian community-by April 15th, 2015.
    - Applicant should not have any history of criminal convictions [certain exceptions are made if satisfactory explanation is provided].
    - Applicants must have a recommendation letter from a family or friend who is a current HAFTB member [member must be in good standing, with dues paid].
    - Applicant shall submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor.

    Essay Requirements

    Applicants must write a 500 words typed essay, double-spaced, standard margins, in English, French, or Haitian Creole.
    Essay Topic: In light of the recent earthquake of 2010 discuss two organizations that have greatly contributed to the reconstruction of Haiti. What impact have they made on the country?

    Post Award Requirements

    - Applicant must be present at the HAFTB meeting in May 16, 2015.
    - Applicant must commit to do a videotape or radio interview with HAFTB.
    - Applicant must commit to become a member of HAFTB during the year in which he/she is a recipient of the scholarship.
    - During their first year in college, applicants must commit to become a mentor to at least one Haitian high school student.
